I Lived It: Woman Quits Job And Moves To A Place Her Ancestors Colonized

You Guys.

I finally did it.

I took the leap.

I am braving the unknown for the first time in my 24 years of life, and it’s really exciting.

After only a year after graduation, I left my social media management role at my dad’s company last week and I wasn’t totally sure what would be next.

How would I pay for my nails and blowout this week? How would my stylist at the dry bar survive?

But, then it hit me. I should definitely move overseas.

So, throwing caution to the wind, I bought a plane ticket and took the longest flight I’ve taken since I studied abroad in France junior year. Commercial no less! And landed in a new land. The Congo.

It felt so different and hot

But, also, like… empowering.

Like I was… I could rule the world.

It’s insane to be in a place where I don’t recognize anyone except my assistant Jen and my translator Maureen. I’m totally out here alone! Anything could happen!

The first thing I did when I stepped off the plane was try to grab a bite to eat, but I’m struggling to find a cucumber salad with quinoa so I’m not totally sure what I’ll do. Jen’s working on it with the man who offered to take her in his car to where they could definitely it.

Now that I’m here, I get to be whoever I want. Do whatever I want. Go wherever I want. It’s crazy!

I feel like America could really use some of the vibes that are out here. I’m going to tell my dad about that and maybe see if he can Venmo me some cash.

Toodles!
