Ordering McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets Right at the Changeover From Breakfast to Lunch Is Highlight of Man’s Week.

While sitting outside a McDonald’s in Staten Island, upset about missing out on my planned breakfast of five sausage and cheese McMuffins, a man with a huge smile on his face pulled up and lowered his window, holding up a steaming box of McNuggets.

“When I woke up this morning, I just felt like it was going to be one of those special days you remember for the rest of your life,” said 39-year-old Connor Davis, who is still basking in the glory of ordering McDonald’s chicken nuggets right at the changeover from breakfast to lunch.

“It’s so tough to time that first batch,” said Davis. “Everyone knows that the first batch of the day fresh out of the fryer are the rarest nuggets.” Davis explained that getting one of the first few select nuggets made in a given day ensures maximum crispness and juiciness.

The feat has eluded Davis for the better part of a decade he told Lousy Human, but he doesn’t take it for granted. “I’ve been chasing this for so long. The changeover happens right at 11, and it’s about a 15-minute drive from the office and my house to the nearest Mickey D’s. So on weekdays, I have to wrap up my first few sales calls by at least 10:40 to give me a shot and my weekends can get so busy 11:00am blows right by me,” he said. “The stars never seem to align.” His dedication and persistence have inspired his friends and family alike.

“I knew Connor was going to do it; there wasn’t a doubt in my mind,” said Mary Davis, his wife of 11 years. “Did all the constant strategizing put a strain on our marriage? Yes. Did I think of leaving him for his vegan best friend? Yes. But in the end, when I got that text of him dunking that nugget into the sweet and sour sauce, I knew it was all worth it.”

When asked if Davis would take time off to celebrate his feat, he quoted the late great Kobe Bryant. “Those times when you stay up late, and you work hard; those times when you don’t feel like working — you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself — but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. It’s not the destination; it’s the journey.”

For Davis, it was always the journey. His next challenge is to secure a McFlurry right after McDonald’s technicians fix the ice cream machine.
