Genocide Prevention Day Once Again Overshadowed by Lexus’ December to Remember Sales Event.

Since its inception, Genocide Prevention Day has aimed to educate the public while honoring the dignity of victims of horrific crimes against humanity. However, this solemn occasion is overshadowed each year by an event that captures the attention of both the nation and the world: the Lexus December to Remember Sales Event. Even we here at Lousy Human were so caught up in the automotive extravaganza to remember wartorn horrors God allows to take place in his kingdom.

“It’s heartbreaking,” said Genocide Prevention Coalition spokesperson Carla Martinez, standing outside a nearly empty educational seminar as the hum of holiday-themed car commercials blasted from a nearby TV showroom. “We’re here talking about preventing atrocities, and all anyone wants to know is how much cash back they can get on a new Lexus RX.”

The coalition’s efforts to bring gravity to the day have been eclipsed by the allure of luxury vehicles at surprisingly competitive prices.

“I tried to tell my kids about the importance of Genocide Prevention Day,” said local father Mark Patterson, adjusting his scarf in the dealership lot. “But then they saw the big red bow on the Lexus and said, Fuhgeddaboudit. Why save the world when you can save $2,500 with 0% APR?’ Honestly, they’ve got a point. If Anne Frank were here, I know in my heart she’d drive a Lexus.”

Despite their disappointment, coalition members say they’ll press on, though they admit that next year’s Genocide Prevention Day may feature a raffle for a used Prius in an effort to compete.
